Coding in Elementary School

Central kindergarten through fifth grade students participated in the Hour of Code in the library this year.  Kinder – Fifth grade students were introduced to the Hour of Code website and Lightbot.  Coding is always an option for students to select when we do Makerspaces in the library.

Learn to Code

Code.org –  Code in Minecraft, Star Wars, Frozen, or Anger Birds; Coding Fundamentals

Code Monkey – Coding game

Code Monster – Programming lessons

Code Spark – Check out The Foos on Code Spark. “Learning to code is now child’s play.” – Code Spark

Khan Academy –  Learn to program and create web pages.

Lightbot  – Code a pink or green robot.  The website and app is a favorite among teachers and students.

Scratch – Designed for ages 8 and up.  Program unique games, stories, and animations.
