RLT DECA Students Compete for Grants
On Nov. 29, five RLT DECA students competed for grants at a workshop/competition held by SAP. DECA (Distributitive Education Clubs of America) is a decades-old organization that boasts over 215,000 members and 3,500 high school chapters. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management world-wide. R. L. Turner High School students Ivana Alcala, Celeste Almaguer, Raul Garcia, Hunter Parker, and Darrien Stephens competed at the event. While hoping to win one of ten grants worth $1K each, DECA members divided into 3 groups. They each prepared a project and presented their ideas to a panel of judges. At the conclusion of the event, RLT student, Raúl Garcia, was awarded one of the $1,000 grants for his presentation. Garcia is the President of of DECA at RLT.
