The Polk 2018 Destination Imagination Team heads to state in April. The Polk Middle School team competed at R. L. Turner High School on Feb. 24, taking first place for the Improvisational Challenge. Additionally, they won both the team challenge and the instant challenge sections of the event. The team consists Polk students Olivia Brewer, Jaclyn Decherd, Olivia Ker, Tre Macias, Quentin Maese, Reid Shermam, and Blalack student Scotty Brady.

In addition, the team won the coveted Da Vinci award. The Da Vinci award goes to teams who show “exceptional creativity, a unique approach to the problem, and/or risk taking.”

This is the team’s third year to win. Dr. Kathyrn Schaeffer, Executive Director of Advanced Academic Services, states, “this year they were small fish in a big pond, competing as sixth graders at the Middle School level. Their team performance was full of imagination, wit, and creativity. Way to go CFBISD Polk Caarbadarbons! Good luck at the State competition April 7th.”
