Perry Eagles learn life-saving skills, thanks to the Carrollton Fire Department. Members of the City of Carrollton Fire-Rescue team visited DeWitt Perry Middle School, providing demos to 200 students on skills that could one day save the life of a loved one or a stranger. Students were able to utilize CPR manikins, also known as “Resusci Anne” manikins, to learn how to do proper chest compressions to resuscitate an individual whose heart has stopped. Skills such as checking the airway, the Heimlich maneuver for choking victims, and how to perform CPR on an infant were demonstrated.
