Newman Smith Debate Team Wins Big at Hebron Tournament

On December 16th and 17th, the Newman Smith Debate team competed at the Hebron High School Tournament and finished the first semester in spectacular fashion!

With only eight students competing the team placed 5th out of 31 schools winning a Sweepstakes award.
Seven of Smith’s eight students were in the elimination rounds in multiple events.

Elizabeth Ghil: 2nd Place Impromptu Speaking, 3rd Place Extemporaneous Speaking, 3rd Place Debate
Hannah Smith: 3rd Place Impromptu Speaking, 3rd Place Lincoln Douglas Debate
Anaiya Moran: 4th Place Impromptu Speaking ,Semifinals Extemporaneous Speaking
Brandon Betancourt: 5th Place Impromptu Speaking, Semifinals Extemporaneous Speaking
Heewon Huh: 8th Place Congressional Debate, Semifinals Impromptu Speaking
Alondra Ramirez: Semifinals Impromptu Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking
