Students at McCoy Elementary participated in the 2018Â Hour of Code, by learning how object-oriented programming works and implementing this knowledge into code of their own. The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week. Students and Computer Science teachers from Newman Smith High School visited McCoy to give a presentation to students and demonstrate the need for coders today. In Texas alone, there are over 44,000 jobs available for coders, with only a fraction of that need being met. The project seeks to demystify code so that anybody can learn the basics.
