College Financial Aid Help Events This January

Dear parents/guardians of high school seniors:

Now is the time to help your child complete the steps that will help him or her prepare for education after high school.  The Texas state financial aid priority deadline is January 15th, and correctly completing the application process prior to this date will help ensure that your child receives the greatest amount of college funding for which he or she qualifies.

If your child and you have not yet submitted the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), please join attend one of the events listed below this January.  We will have a team from a local university present to guide parents and high school seniors through the financial aid applications.

District-wide financial aid (FAFSA/TASFA) events in January:

Representatives from the TWU G-Force will be present to help parents and students complete their FAFSA or TASFA applications:

Tuesday, January 15th, from 4-8pm at NSHS
Saturday, January 19th 10am-2pm at NSHS

What you will need to bring:

You will need to bring the following information:

  • Your social security number, if you have one
  • Your permanent residence card number if you are not a U.S. citizen
  • Your 2017 W2/federal income tax information (The FAFSA has an online tool to import your tax data from the IRS in one step, but the TASFA will require you to list earnings)
  • Records of investments, if applicable
  • Records of untaxed income, if applicable

Brookhaven’s advice for filling out the FAFSA

The Brookhaven Financial Aid Department will be open Saturday, January 12th, 2019!
They will also be open for walk-ins January 14th-16th and January 22nd-23rd from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
