During the last week of July, the Creekview High School Moot Court team competed at the YMCA Youth in Government National Judicial Conference. Held in Chicago, Illinois, the conference was the culmination of work that began in the Fall of 2016. Students competed at district and state levels to qualify for this step to the national level. Team members included 2017 graduates Kate Smitherman and Madison Cabera, as well as senior Simon Peña and junior Joanna Boyer.

All four team members were selected to write and deliver the opinion of the court at the close of the conference. Only three other students from the entire nation were selected for this honor. Additionally, the director of the Law and Criminal Justice Academy, Jonathan Ray, was selected to preside as Chief Justice in the showcase round.
