CFB Poetry Slam Teams Sweep Competition
Four CFB high schools and one middle school formed poetry slam teams to participate in the Young DFW Writer’s Louder Than a Bomb Competition. Ranchview, Creekview, Smith, and Turner High Schools, along with Polk Middle School, competed in the event. The event brings over 10 schools from across the metroplex. CFB schools received the most awards at the competition. Turner High School teacher, Tess Mueggenborg, earned the Teacher of the Year award. She is the second teacher from CFB to ever win this honor. RLT sophpmore Maria Nguyen is the recipient of the Giselle Robinson Literary Scholarship. The $6,000 scholarship is for the University of Pennsylvania’s Summer Writing Institute. The Ranchview team is the recipient of the Chuck DÂ Lyrical Activist Award. The award goes to the team poem that effectively advocates for the recognition of a social issue using poetry. RHS won the award for both of their poems.
