Earlier this year, an invitation was extended from the Dallas County Promise to compete in a high school ‘College Access’ Challenge. Six area education businesses were looking to high school students to provide logical solutions addressing specific higher education challenges.
The Early College High School competitive application was accepted. The 8-person multi grade team voted to tackle the challenge of ‘supporting the college process via community and parent support’, a challenge offered by Ms. Gloria Lopez, the C.E.O. of Trinity River Mission.
The team named themselves ‘The College-bound Bears’. The College-bound Bears chose to create a website called Quick Campus Connections (and an eventual app) to provide support to parents, the community, current and former students. The goal is to have the website used by 35% of current, former, and future students and additionally by 43% of students’ parents.
