Board Discusses Transportation Services, Dual Language, and more…
On Dec. 7, the CFBISD School Board Meeting included action items and discussion regarding transportation services, dual language programs, the District of Innovation process, and much more. View the video below to find out more.
The School Board voted at the December 7 School Board Meeting to pursue in-house transportation services beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. CFBISD’s transportation services are currently provided by Dallas County Schools. CFBISD will work with current transportation employees during this transition and in the hiring process.
In addition, the Board approved the purchase of 10 new buses for the 2018-2019 school year. Currently, CFBISD uses 132 buses for routes with some of the buses being older than 14 years old. The new buses would replace some of the older buses in service.
During the last Legislative session, a bill was passed which allowed Dallas County residents to vote on the future of Dallas County Schools. Voters chose to dissolve Dallas County Schools effective the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Please be aware of the following:
- Bus Routes and schedules will continue as normal for the 2017-2018 school year.
- A committee of school district officials from across Dallas County have been meeting in order to be prepared to oversee the dissolution of Dallas County Schools. CFBISD is a part of this committee.
- Dallas County Schools will continue to pay drivers and provide transportation services throughout the dissolution process.
Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted transportation services for our students.
