Mentor

Mentor with CFB

The ultimate goal of mentoring is to help students discover their strengths, build confidence in their abilities and skills, and empower them to make positive changes in their own lives.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to have a positive impact on a young person in our community!

What is a mentor?
A mentor is a caring adult who consistently meets with a student(s) to provide guidance, encouragement, friendship, and social development.

What does it take to be a mentor?
In addition to an application, background check, and training, we ask our mentors to strive to be patient, consistent, and dependable.

When will the mentoring occur?
Mentoring takes place on the same day, same time, once per week. Mentors can meet with students before, during, or after school. The mentoring schedule will depend on the student’s schedule and the mentor’s availability.

How are mentors matched with students?
Once a student is referred, we will confirm the student’s level of commitment. If the student agrees and parent consent is confirmed, the student goes on a waiting list for the next available mentor. When a prospective mentor shows interest in the mentoring program, an informal interview will be conducted to get a better idea of personality and interests. Based on this information, as well as scheduling availability, a compatible student will be selected and the match is made!
