June 1st – August 10th
While students eagerly await the start of summer vacation, teachers and parents know that it can also be the beginning of the “Summer Slide.” Researchers say that the average child loses 2.6 months of math skills over the summer break and that it can take teachers 4 to 6 weeks of teaching to get it back. To help your child maintain all of their hard-learned math knowledge, Think Through Math and Blalack Middle School are kicking off the 2017 Summer Math Challenge to keep children engaged while building math skills and self-confidence.
Every student who participates in the “Challenge”, logs at least 15 hours on “Think Through Math”, and passes a minimum of 10 lessons, will be treated to an Ice Cream Party and Games on the first Friday back to school!
