Who qualifies for Out-of-District Admissions?
Families living outside the CFBISD boundaries and who meet the criteria are eligible to apply for the out-of-district admissions program.

Do I qualify for Out-of-District Admissions?

All applications for out-of-district admissions are required to meet the following standards.

The student must:

  • Offer proof of 90% attendance for the previous semester and the most recent six or nine week grading period.
  • Pass all classes in the current and last semester completed.
  • Pass all portions of his or her latest state test/assessment exam. Students from homeschool, private school or non-accredited school must show satisfactory achievement on district approved assessments.
  • Have a record that shows no disciplinary infractions that resulted in a mandatory placement in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) or any placement at the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) during the current and prior school years.
What is the process for being accepted for Out-of-District Admissions?

You must apply online before the deadline to be considered for acceptance. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If approved:

  • All out-of-district admissions are approved for a period of one school year, and students accepted under the out-of-district admissions policy must reapply annually.
  • Students will be approved for admission based on space, availability of building capacity, grade level staffing limitations, a lottery process, and upon meeting all required criteria.
  • Application is by student and not by family. There is no guarantee that siblings will be approved to attend Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD through the out-of-district admissions process.
  • Students accepted to an out-of-district admissions may not apply for transfer to another District campus.
  • Students attending CFBISD under an out-of-district admissions must provide their own transportation to and from school.
What documents do I need to complete my out-of-district Admissions and Enrollment?
Admissions and Enrollment are two separate processes. Enrollment will be online in May. You must apply to be admitted before you enroll. To prepare for the enrollment application, you will need the following documents ready:
NOTE: If you are unable to upload these documents now, you will have to bring them in person to the campus the student has been approved to attend.
  • Parent photo identification
  • High School Transcript for students entering grades 10-11
  • The district you currently reside in
  • PDF/scan of your child’s birth certificate to upload
  • PDF/scan of your utility bill (for proof of residency)
  • PDF/scan of your mortgage bill or lease agreement (for proof of residency)
  • PDF/scan of your child’s last report card
  • PDF/scan of your child’s STAAR test results
  • Campus you are requesting
Can the Out-of-District Admission be revoked?

Students must reapply each year.

REASONS FOR REVOCATION

  1. Repeated failure to abide by the rules specified in the CFB Student Code of Conduct.
  2. Student commits a disciplinary infraction that mandates removal to the DAEP or JJAEP.
  3. Documented pattern of late arrivals, late pick-ups and/or poor attendance.
  4. Falsification of information.
  5. Failure to meet the enrollment criteria annually.

OTHER

Students charged with a felony offense are not eligible for a transfer regardless of whether the alleged offense occurred on or off school property.

Can I transfer my child who will be a senior?
We do not accept new transfers for students who will be seniors. Students who have attended CFB through out-of-district admissions can continue through their senior year.
