CFBISD Educational Foundation Presents 2017 Unsung Heroes Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
The CFBISD Educational Foundation held its 2017 Unsung Heroes Teacher Appreciation Breakfast at Brookhaven Country Club. The annual event honors a nominee from across CFB campuses. Principals nominate the outstanding unsung hero from their campus, with the winner being further honored with gifts supplied by the event’s sponsors. Diamond Sponsors of the event, LBJ Express, presented a check to the CFBISD Educational Foundation for $40,000 at the event. The foundation provides scholarships to students and grants to teachers to aid in the classroom.
The keynote speaker for the event was Perry Middle School student, Arnav Koppala. Koppala recently published his second book, Breaking Boundaries. All nominees received a gift bag which included a copy of his book. Koppala is also an actor and avid golfer.
The winner of the Unsung Hero Award was Creekview High School teacher, Jonathan Ray. Ray is the director of the Law & Criminal Justice Academy at Creekview. He has been a Mustang for 11 years. Ray, an vigorous fundraiser for the LCJ Academy, for was awarded a $500 grant for LCJ at the event.
