Athletes Compete In Many Events in the 2017 Special Olympics

On Mar. 23, the CFBISD All-Stars competed in the 2017 Special Olympics at Standridge Stadium. Athletes from several North Texas school districts made the journey to Standridge to participate in the games. Representatives from Congressman Kenny Marchant’s office; Carrollton Mayor, Matthew Marchant; Superintendent, Dr. Bobby Burns; and Miss Texas, Caroline Carothers spoke at the event.

While the wind was very gusty on an otherwise beautiful day, the athletes followed the Special Olympics motto: Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.

Special Olympics athletes participate in shot-put, softball throw, long jump, javelin throw and many other track and field activities.
